I get it...your time is limited. With the daily household tasks like laundry and cleaning, adding something else to the mix can feel like a burden.
And isn't this time of year where you should be able to relax and enjoy the get-togethers, dinners, parties, and festivities?
But what if you could take 15 minutes of your day to declutter small areas that will make a big impact?
What if you didn't have to think or plan for a space because it was all planned out for you?
The 21 Days of Declutter Challenge lays out what tasks you should do so you don't have to think about the clutter. You just get to take action.
So if you aren't ready to tackle drawers, then you can just skip that and save it for when you are ready later that week. Replace it with the next day or jump around in a week. This challenge is for you. Small steps are what really help you win the race.
If you are ready to get the maximum impact with minimal time commitment, let's get started:
My 21-day decluttering challenge:
Week 1 (Days 1-7):
Day 1: Junk drawer
(order and put in those simple drawer dividers. See my other blog posts)
Day 2: Bathroom medicine cabinet
Day 3: Kitchen utensil drawer
Day 4: Entryway table
Day 5: Bedroom nightstand
Day 6: Refrigerator shelves
Day 7: Coat rack area
Week 2 (Days 8-14):
Day 8: Desk drawer
Day 9: Living room coffee table
Day 10: Under the sink storage
Day 11: Shoe rack
Day 12: Pet supplies corner
Day 13: Car glove compartment
Day 14: Linen closet shelves
Week 3 (Days 15-21):
Day 15: Kids' toy bin - after all, Christmas is coming.
Day 16: Bookshelf
Day 17: Laundry room countertop
Day 18: Home office filing cabinet
Day 19: Pantry snack area
Day 20: Living room TV stand
Day 21: Celebrate and review progress
Key points to remember:
Focus on one area per day: This helps manage the decluttering process and prevent 😩 fatigue. If you can't finish it, imagine I'm there cheering you on!
Decide on action for each item: Keep, donate, or trash each item as you go through. Waiting to make the decisions leads to no decisions.
If you do a "maybe pile", tackle it last.
Set time limits: 15-30 minutes is all you need. Make piles and label them with post it notes for what goes where so that you don't spend your time running from room to room during decluttering time.
Adjust my list to your needs: Tailor this challenge to your personal priorities.
